Food Assistance

SC Food Access: a map of food pantries and soup kitchens

WIC program: A nutrition program for pregnant and new moms that provides food vouchers, breastfeeding counselors. You are automatically eligible for WIC if you’re on Medicaid or TANF.

SHINE Soup Kitchen: Take-out meals served three times a week in Easley.

FoodShare: a bi-monthly food box with fresh fruits and vegetables available at a low-cost or using SNAP benefits.

The Storehouse: A religious organization that provides a food pantry and a market.

Pickens Adventist Food Pantry: A faith-based food pantry in Pickens.

Housing Assistance

Easley Housing Authority: A HUD provider in Easley for low-income families.

Pickens Habitat for Humanity: Builds homes for low to middle income families with demonstrated need but ability to pay for housing.

Allen Temple Community Economic Development Corporation: Uses Section 8 eligibility to construct new homes and remodel old home for rental placement in the upstate.

Rebuild Upstate: Provides disability updates and critical repairs to low-resourced residents in Pickens, Greenville, Anderson, and Oconee counties

United Housing Connections: Assists with affordable housing for homeless or at-risk for homelessness individuals and families.

USDA Rural Development: provides grants and loans to families and communities

Emmanuel’s Hammer: A faith-based non-profit that provides critical home repairs/rebuilds for disaster relief or residents with demonstrated need

Day Shelters/Residential Shelters

Family Promise of Pickens County: Operates a day shelter that assists with preschool day care, laundry services, showers, and employment assistance. Also provides short term housing for families within volunteers’ homes

Home with a Heart: A faith-based residential home for men recovering from addiction

Safe Harbor: Domestic violence services including legal assistance and emergency shelter

Alabaster House: a faith-based home for women in recovery

Shepherd’s Gate: a faith-based emergency shelter for women and children operated by Miracle Hill Ministries

The Dream Center: A faith-based organization that offers enrichment and spiritual classes, provides Christmas gifts to families, and operates a residential program for single women and women with children under 11 years old.

Jasmine Road: A two year residential program for women who are survivors of trafficking, addiction, or prostitution. Faith-based.

Front Porch Housing: A faith-based residential program for families. Offers housing, resources, parenting classes, and counseling.

Collins Home Family Ministries: Faith-based pre-DSS intervention to privately place children temporarily, with a goal of family unification

Medical Services

Clemson Free Clinic: Offers free medical care, pharmacy services, and short-term mental health counseling to eligible residents.

Migrant Farmers Medical Clinic: Spanish-language health care through mobile clinics

Samaritan Health Clinic: A faith-based free medical and dental clinic for underserved residents of Pickens County without health insurance. Spanish speaking resources and staff available.

Clemson Rural Health Mobile Clinic: Offers cancer and health screenings and primary care services throughout the upstate. Many programs are free.

Foothills Community Health Care: A non-profit health clinic in Easley and Clemson which also provides a mobile clinic. Offers a sliding scale to families without insurance. Offers medical care, therapy, and pharmacy services.

Welvista: A non-profit providing pharmacy and pediatric dental services to underserved families in SC

AID Upstate: Services to residents with HIV/AIDS. Provides free HIV and STI screenings.

Servants for Sight: a non-profit mobile screening clinic for eye exams, glasses, and eye surgeries for upstate residents with demonstrated need and without insurance

Emerson Rose Congenital Heart Foundation: A faith-based foundation providing support, education, and advocacy to children with congenital heart defects.

Disability Services

BabyNet: An early intervention program for infants and toddlers up to three years old with developmental delays.

Pickens County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs: Provides residential and day programs for residents with disabilities.

The Champions Center for Special Children: A non-profit daycare for children from birth to age 5 with special needs

SC Vocational Rehab: provides job assistance to SC residents with disabilities

Family Connections of SC: provides resources to families with disabilities

Additional Support Services

Pickens Adult Learning Center: Offers parent/child reading classes, ESOL classes, and GED preparation. Provides free childcare for parents attending classes

Pickens County Advocacy Center: Provides crisis response for sexual violence, legal services, and quick escape resources. Licensed counselors offer therapy to children, adult survivors, and secondary survivors. Advocates are available 24/7 to meet survivors at Baptist Easley or AnMed hospitals

The Parenting Place: Offers free individual and group counseling for parents, operates a Healthy Families initiative with weekly home visits from pregnancy to early childhood, assists with victim of crime resources, and connects families to community benefits.

Palmetto Pre-K: A service to connect families to free preschool programs

Behavioral Health Services: Provides drug and alcohol treatment services, mental health therapy, and domestic violence counseling

SC Works: Non-profit job assistance program with bilingual resources, job boards, training, and programs for ex-offenders, veterans, and individuals with disabilities

SC Legal Services: Free legal aid to low-income residents of SC.

Clemson Community Care: Provides a food pantry, utility bill assistance, homeless support, and rental assistance to Clemson residents

Online Recovery Meetings

National Alliance on Mental Illness SC (NAMI SC): Provides education, individual and group support, and inpatient treatment for mental health

SHARE: Offers housing assistance, job training, energy assistance, and homeless services. Also operates Head Start childcare centers

The Salvation Army of Pickens Country: A faith-based non-profit providing food, clothing, job placement, and financial assistance to Pickens residents

United Christian Ministries: A faith-based non-profit providing food, clothing, and financial assistance

Recovery Meetings (AA and NA): local, in person meetings

Catholic Charities of SC: Offers disaster relief programs, wellness services, immigration legal support, mental health, incarceration/reentry help, and more

Pickens Library Seed Library: Pickens residents can take up to 10 seed packets per week.

Pickens Library: Allows checkout of wellness kits for blood pressure, diabetes, and more. Residents can also check out museum and park passes along with games and many other non-book resources.

Healthy Connections Transportation: A transportation service to all Medicaid recipients in SC

Upstate Red Cross: Provides assistance for families affecting by fire or disaster and provides services to veterans

SC Victim Assistance Network: A network of resources available to victims of crime in SC. Many Spanish language resources available.

Pickens County Mental Health: Outpatient individual and group therapy for adults and children with severe and persistent mental illness or major emotional disorders.

United Way of Pickens County: File taxes for free, access non-emergency resources by calling 211, find community resources.
